An evening of Irish Music, Story and Song 

 Tuesday 19th July     Scoil Eimhin Naofa          7.45 pm      €5

This 2- part evening of history, music and song begins with A talk by Brian Lawler, a native of  South Kildare, and the founder of the Ardellis Ceili Band. Brian completed a five year audio archive project entitled -- The Golden Era of Ceili Music and Dance 1955 --- 1970 in conjunction with The Irish Traditional Music Archive. 

The talk consists of a review of the work, and includes short extracts from some of the field interviews, and also samples of the music of the period including an imput from Kildare musicians with questions and answers. The second part of the evening will celebrate our own local traditional musicians, singers and story tellers with lots of toe tapping music that might just make you dance in the aisles!

Paul McKeever is a graduate of University College Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin and University of Limerick in Psychology and Music. As organ scholar (and tutor) at the University of Limerick he is currently finalising research into the area of nineteenth century organ-building in Ireland. He was selected to present some of this research at Oxford University in 2009. He holds four diplomas from: the Guildhall School of Music, London; Trinity College, London and the Royal Schools of Music. He has also worked with organ-building firms in Ireland, France and Germany. As an organist he has played at the majority of venues in Ireland and also performed in France, Germany and Italy. He was an invited performer at the Organ Festival at Pezenas, France last summer.  

County Kildare Orchestra

County Kildare Orchestra, conducted by Ite O’Donovan, is delighted to announce that we will once again be performing at the Monasterevin Venice of Ireland Festival, this July.

The concert will take place on Saturday 23 July 2011 at 8pm. We are particularly pleased to play in the beautiful Baronial Hall in Moore Abbey. The programme will feature a selection of orchestral highlights which we are sure will entertain and delight.

County Kildare Orchestra celebrates its 12th year and has performed in many venues throughout the county. Musical Director, Ite O’Donovan, says “we are delighted to be welcomed back to the Monasterevin Venice of Ireland Festival. The Orchestra very much enjoyed performing here last year in the splendid Baronial Hall. It is a privilege to perform for you and we value your continuing support.”
