The Monasterevin Venice of Ireland Festival will be officially opened on Wednesday 20th July at 3.30pm at the Drawbridge on the Grand Canal.
The official opening will be performed by Aindrui MacLochlainn – County Kildare Footballer during the Irish Pony Club Parade which will begin at the Drawbridge at 3.00pm travel down Main Street, along Dublin, up Drogheda Street and back via Drawbridge to Byrons Field Passlands for the Irish Pony Club Mounted Games at 4.00pm The festival organising committee extends an invitation to all the residents and business people of the town and surrounding area to attend the Parade, The Official Opening and then to support the Children’s Mounted Games which will be great fun and quite a spectacle.

The Monasterevin Venice of Ireland Festival is essentially a community festival designed to celebrate all that is positive about our town & its environs. The comprehensive festival programme of events will include, Arts & Culture, Sports, Workshops, Summer-schools, Exhibitions, Walk’s n Talks, Concerts, Drama, and Recitals & Street Carnivals.
We are delighted to have the grand Baronial Hall at Moore Abbey as one of our key venues along with venues at Soil Eimhin Naofa, St. Paul’s Secondary School, St. John’s Church, Grand Canal, Byron’s Passlands, Stores & Square Galleries, Monasterevin Library, Riverside Park and of course the town centre which will host the street entertainment from Thursday 21st July to Sunday 24th July.
